Kaple sv. Huberta (St. Hubert?s Chapel)

History

Formerly built wooden church constructions in Bílá were enriched with others quite recently.

In the centre of the village, in the area of the hunting lodge, a new wooden chapel was build by the Forest District of Ostravice in 2008. Consecration of the chapel to St. Hubert ? Patron of the Woodmen can in this regard be considered logical.

Site Hlavatá

History It is a small pseudofolk chapel of Scandinavian type. The logged chapel with a rectangular ground plan was built in 1922 and was consecrated to Cyril and Metoděj. The main portal has a small roof above in the form of reduced undergable known from folk constructions. Supporting columns are decorated with wood carvings, exactly as the flat panel framing of the windows. The gable above the entrance contains a folk wood carving of the Virgin Mary. In the interior your eyes will be caught by the window vitraille with figures of chapel patrons.

The entire architecture already at first sight reminds of the architectonic autograph of Dušan Jurkovič, which we can encounter not only in well-known objects of tourist shelter huts at Pustevny, but also in the wooden chapel in Horní Čeladná or wooden belfry in Trojanovice - Bystré.

Access You can reach the chapel from the railway station of Ostravice close to the crossing of the red tourist mark Hlavatá, bus and green tourist mark Bedřichův splav on the 1st class road no. 56 Ostrava - Frýdek-Místek - Frýdlant n. O. - Bílá, 1st class road no. 35 Rožnov p. R. ? Bumbálka.

Kostel sv. Bedřicha

Kostel sv. Bedřicha (St. Frederick?s Church) was built in the years 1873-1875. Its construction was initiated by the Cardinal of Olomouc Fridrich Landráta. The construction was carried out according to the plan of the constructor Antonín Kybasta. The architecture is different from other wooden churches of Beskydy. Wooden church in Bílá resembles Scandinavian medieval churches that were originating in the 8th century. The Nordic architecture is reminded also by the high, slender tower with narrow high windows and triangular frontons over the top edge and corrugated roof in two levels. The ground plan of the church aisle is broken thanks to the annexes of galilees in front of the main entrance and side entrances. Fourteen carved columns inside the church carries a gallery with three arcades. Altar with reliquary is in the Neo-Baroque style. An interesting piece of architecture is the solution of fourteen trellis windows that serve as unique representation of individual stages of the Way to Calvary. The patron of the church was selected according to the name of the donator ? Cardinal Landgrat.

Masses The masses are held each Wednesday at 15:00 o?clock, each Sunday at 10:00 o?clock, during Christmas holidays and in the feast of St. Frederick. An individual tour can be arranged at local municipality at the telephone number 558 690 020
