Morávka was founded after 1615 along the upper course of Morávka riverand in the foot of surrounding hills. Picturesque mountainous village with scattered Silesian housing that is wedged in between the massifs of Travný and Slavíč belongs to the biggest villages in the Czech Republic. Dam reservoir was built on Morávka river in 1960 ? 1966 to serve as a source of drinking water for the inhabitants of the surrounding towns. For its precious and unusual natural beauties it is included in the Natural protected reserve of Beskydy. It offers very good conditions for summer and winter recreation, tourism and picking of forest fruits.
