Horní Domaslovice was founded in 1405, when the first written mention about it appeared. The legend says that it was founded by a Slavonic kin of Domalsovicové, who gave the place their name. It is located in the tourist region of Beskydy mountains, in Podbeskydská pahorkatina,

in close proximity to the recreation area of Žermanická dam, to the north-east of Frýdek-Místek. The village preserved its typical nature of the original Silesian scattered type of residential living on most of its territory. Hikers can walk in the surroundings of Žermanická dam as well as on the nearby marked tourist path. Horní Domaslovice is intersected by maintained cycle tracks on which we can walk towards the nearby Těrlická dam.

The instructive trail with five stops was built in the period from 1994 to 1995 and reminds the history of the village. In the past it played a role of the centre of spiritual life of this region. The dominant feature of the village since 1745 is the Roman-Catholic Church of St. Jacob Senior, which was proclaimed cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in 1999, which is located on this instructive trail. The instructive trail also includes a natural speciality, the so-called "Sea Eye" which is a frequent topic of many legends. The sea eye offers a beautiful view of the panorama of Moravian-Silesian Beskydy.
